Radio Technologies

There is a wide range of wireless technologies currently available with more arriving all the time. Red-M helps its customers to select the appropriate technologies for their applications and ensure their strategy and implementation is appropriately future-proofed. In addition to the technologies considered below, such as Cellular, Wi-Fi, WiMAX and PMR, Red-M also has expertise in DVB-T, RFID, UWB, Bluetooth, Zigbee and Wireless USB.

Red-M services can be specific to one technology such as Cellular Benchmarking or cover multiple technologies as in a Health & Safety RF Audit and Airspace Policy Management; our services can also be grouped by functional areas.

More details of these and other services can be found by clicking on the Consulting, Audit, Design, Implementand Manage tabs above.

Cellular

This ubiquitous, high penetration wireless technology has become well established as a normal part of our everyday lives. Red-M has been working with cellular technologies for over a decade and is able to provide in-depth and expert advice on how best to exploit this wireless environment. Within this arena, Red-M works with many different versions of cellular, including 2G/GSM, 3G/UMTS, HSDPA, LP-GSM, GSM-R, GPRS, CDMA 2000 and EV-DO.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi has experienced very rapid growth and is proving to be a most useful technology for enterprises small and large. Users, however, face challenges from a number of variables including the increasingly crowded spectrum bands in which Wi-Fi operates and the continually expanding set of Wi-Fi technology variants which are available, including IEEE 802.11 a, b, g, n & h.

For more in-depth detail on Red-M's wireless solutions involving Wi-Fi, read the World Class Wi-Fi page.

WiMAX

This is an emerging technology which extends the use of Wi-Fi into outdoors over large distances and at higher bit rates. In the future WiMAX will be also able to deliver mobile services, which may compete with or complement those delivered on 3G networks.

Private Mobile Radio

Many organisations have the need to communicate with their staff and security personnel over two-way radio systems. The majority of these systems currently use trunked analogue technology, but increasingly digital systems such as TETRA and TETRA Pol are being introduced.
